The nominees for the world’s most prestigious award, the Oscar for this year have been announced at an event at the Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. In the list of nominees is one of Tamil Nadu’s favorite singers Bombay Jayashri for her rendition in Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. She had sung Pi’s Lullaby, which is a Tamil song in the Hollywood film based on the adventures of an Indian boy after he loses his family in a ship wreck.

The winners will be announced on 24th February 2013 at the same venue. Bombay Jayashri will join the list of Oscar winners in India like Bhanu Athaiya, Satyajit Ray, Resul Pookutty, AR Rahman and Gulzar if she wins the Oscar race. She is one of the most sought after contemporary musicians and has worked with many ace composers like Ilaiyaraaja, AR Rahman, Vidyasagar, Yuvan Shankar Raja among others. Tejas, who debuted in the film making circuit with 'Ek Shukravaar' in 2006, is going to release his film titled 'Lo! Ho Gai Party" The film is about events that unfold one night when four friends celebrate the fact that one of them has bought a secondhand car. Apparently, the movie was shot with a borrowed camera in a record 21-day period. The film features newcomers as well as industry veterans like Manoj Joshi and Satish Kaushik. And all the actors did their job for free! "Everything from stationery to the location of for the film was borrowed," says Tejas Padia. Nearly 60 percent of the film was shot in Tejas' friend's posh house in Ghatkopar. The rest of the portions were shot in Bandra and Jogeshwari in Mumbai.

 International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012 Awards


Gurvinder Singh’s Punjabi film ‘Anhey Ghorhey Da Daan’ bagged Golden Peacock for the best film and a cash prize of Rs. 4 million (USD 73600) at the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012.


Kyu-hwan Jeon 

Best Director’s award went to Kyu-hwan Jeon for his film ‘The Weight’. He got Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 million (USD 27600).
The IFFI this year celebrated the centenary year of Indian Cinema by bestowing the ‘Centenary Film Award’ to Mira Nair’s ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’. This film was selected by a special jury panel. The award carries Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1 million (USD 18000).
 Marcin Dorocinski 
Best Actor (Male) award went to Marcin Dorocinski for his remarkable performance in Polish-Russian-German movie ‘Rose’. The award carries Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1 million (USD 18400).
Anjali Patil
Anjali Patil’s performance in Prasanna Vithanage’s Sinhala-Tamil movie ‘With You, Without You’ won her the Best Actor (Female) award. It carries Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1 million (USD 18400)
Special Jury Award went to Lucy Mulloy for her Spanish movie ‘Una Noche’. She got Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 million (USD 27600).

 Ann Augustine to marry cinematographer Jomon T. John


After Samvrutha Sunil, now it’s Ann Augustine’s turn to tie the knot. Actress Ann Augustine and Cinematographer Jomon T. John are getting married next year.
Ann’s father and actor Augustine confirms the news. “We are planning the engagement for January next year and the wedding later on,” he also said that the two families had met sometime last month to confirm the wedding.
The engagement will take place next month and the marriage will happen next year. Sources close to the couple say that, Ann and Jomon met on the sets of V K Prakash’s Poppins, in which jomon was the director of photography(DOP). Both completed their education in Bangalore.
Jomon who started as the assistant of cameraman Shyju Khalid in Traffic has worked in many projects which include Chaappa Kurish, Beautiful, Thattathin Marayathu and Ayalum Njanum Thammil. He’s currently filming Dulquer Salmaan’s ABCD.
Ann Augustine made her film debut with Kunchako Boban in the film Elsamma Enna Aankutty which was directed by Lal Jose. The movie was a success at the box office and it brought her into the spotlight. Ann is now working for Aashiq Abu’s ‘Daa Thadiya‘ and the couple have been spotted together in many occasions.
