A new controversy erupted around Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam in the Malayalam film industry on Wednesday.

After watching the film, Mollywood director Aashiq Abu posted on Facebook: “Watched Vishwaroopam, he would have lost more money had this movie not been banned. For real terrorists this movie is a laughing stock. Please watch it, Vinayan had directed a Malayalam version of this before”.

The post trended on Facebook and Twitter with more than 4000 people commenting on the post, most of them criticised him for insulting artistes like Kamal Hassan and ace filmmaker Vinayan. Young actor Namitha Pramod’s official Facebook page also shared a page criticising Aashiq Abu.

Director B. Unnikrishnan, a former president of the Film Employees’ Federation of Kerala was prompt in pointing out Aashiq’s mistake.

“Criticism is a great art. The golden rule is: never, ever be personal. Criticism should never be downright scornful or ridiculing. The highest form of criticism is self-criticism. Before you denigrate someone, just ask this question: how qualified am I to do this?” Unnikrishnan posted.

Under pressure, Aashiq deleted his earlier comment and came up with a polished one.

“My comment was that of a movie lover. I had no intention to insult a great personality like Kamal. There is no scope for any comparison between us. With all due respect, I could not find his movie a great work of art.”

Mohanlal's new flick LOKPAL, is one such anti-corruption targeted flick that picks up pace based on light hearted humor,concept and dialogues.. Mohanlal makes his presence felt as LOKPAL,a fictitious character out of the blue,making his presence felt in the hearts and minds of all who want corruption evaded,an who has an alter side,to his daylight activities. Sai Kumar is a really humorous character who has done well indeed.

The supporting cast includes Meera Nandan,who has a keen role alongside Lal and his motive.Manoj K Jayan is once more at his bad ass role,and makes it victorious. Kavya Madhavan is just one pace of a star who comes in n walks out..her role is nothing much worth the limelight.On the bright side,you get to watch the humorous feeds of corrupt people and their money being targted by Lal in his various disguises,and on the other hand,its another courtroom brawl....
Its a one edge seater,which can be enjoyed once.LOKPAL,is Joshiy's next statement to his twisted sense of direction.

The nominees for the world’s most prestigious award, the Oscar for this year have been announced at an event at the Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. In the list of nominees is one of Tamil Nadu’s favorite singers Bombay Jayashri for her rendition in Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. She had sung Pi’s Lullaby, which is a Tamil song in the Hollywood film based on the adventures of an Indian boy after he loses his family in a ship wreck.

The winners will be announced on 24th February 2013 at the same venue. Bombay Jayashri will join the list of Oscar winners in India like Bhanu Athaiya, Satyajit Ray, Resul Pookutty, AR Rahman and Gulzar if she wins the Oscar race. She is one of the most sought after contemporary musicians and has worked with many ace composers like Ilaiyaraaja, AR Rahman, Vidyasagar, Yuvan Shankar Raja among others. After delving with dark human emotions in movies like Maqbool, Omkara and Kaminey, filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj is back with a crazy comic drama, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, starring Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma, Pankaj Kapur in the leads. MKBKM has been in the news for it's quirky title and hatke content and the charismatic Gulabi Bhains! And, if we just go by it's trailers and promos, we are sure in for a crazy roller coaster ride.

Harry Mandola (Pankaj Kapur) is a wealthy businessman who’s looking forward to getting the villagers of Mandola to hand over their land to the government so that he can, in turn, buy the land from them and build a car factory. But Harry’s weakness is his drinking habit. Once he downs some juice, he does a Mr-Hyde-to-Dr-Jekyll transforming from a ruthless industrialist to a Robinhood type figure who incites the villagers against himself! To prevent himself from doing so, he has hired Matru (Imran Khan), who’s indebted to Harry after his (Matru’s) grandfather took a loan for his education.Pankaj Kapur is the pivot of the film. However, his character is over-wrought, if not over the top.

The actor pushes himself as far as he can within the limitations imposed on him by the screenplay, but this performance of his is unlikely to rank among his best.

There are moments when Kapur is delightfully droll, but he often lapses into the unintelligible, especially when Mandola sinks into a drunken stupor.

Shabana Azmi is saddled with what is almost a walk-on part. There isn’t much she can do to add value to the mix.

If you’re a Vishal Bhardwaj fan, be prepared for a fare that’s different from his dark, moody style. The fun and songs should keep you going though.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola -Hindi movie Review

Karthi's last movie Saguni had failed to impress the audience. Now, the actor has teamed up with Suraj, who has the history of making mass-masala films and delivering hits. The director, in an interview recently, has claimed that his latest film Alex Pandian with the Paruthiveeran star is a perfect Pongal treat for Tamil audience since it's an action-comedy film.

Expectations: Tamil movie audience in recent years have been expecting good storyline and do not entertain mindless scenes, comedies and regular masala tales anymore. They look for believable factors and do not appreciate the same old routine sequences or glorifying the heroism of a lead star unnecessarily. Well, the latest film, with its trailers and posters, appeared like a regular mass film but generated huge hype because of high-octane action sequences.

Story: It has a stunning beginning with a much-talked train chase sequence. A group of thugs chase Anushka Shetty and Karthi comes to rescue her and bashes them up. The first 10 minutes is thrilling and the action sequence have been brilliantly shot, despite the fact that the audience can easily make out that the scenes have been choreographed on a still train at parts. Immediately after the sequence, we are introduced to comedian Santhanam's family, which consists of his mother and three younger sisters. Alex Pandian settles down at his house in spite of stern opposition from Santhanam. The hero flirts with all his three sisters played by Nikita Thukral, Sanusha, and Akanksha Puri. The first half is full of comedy and a few fights.

Light on Alex Pandian Alex Pandian is a typical masala film, which would work better in the Telugu market than among Tamil film goers. To be precise, it is a time-pass movie that can be watched for comedy and action sequences.

Tejas, who debuted in the film making circuit with 'Ek Shukravaar' in 2006, is going to release his film titled 'Lo! Ho Gai Party" The film is about events that unfold one night when four friends celebrate the fact that one of them has bought a secondhand car. Apparently, the movie was shot with a borrowed camera in a record 21-day period. The film features newcomers as well as industry veterans like Manoj Joshi and Satish Kaushik. And all the actors did their job for free! "Everything from stationery to the location of for the film was borrowed," says Tejas Padia. Nearly 60 percent of the film was shot in Tejas' friend's posh house in Ghatkopar. The rest of the portions were shot in Bandra and Jogeshwari in Mumbai.

For the first time in India a movie is to be available to viewers before theatre release through Airtel DTH.Kamal Hassan has decided to telecast his film Vishwaroopam 12 hours before the first show.The film is a film based on international terrorism.It is a Tamil-Hindi bilingual Indian spy thriller film written, directed and co-produced by Kamal Haasan.

Bharti Airtel has announced the premiere of Kamal Haasan’s forthcoming thriller Vishwaroopam in Tamil & Telugu and Vishwaroop in Hindi on its Pay Per View (PPV) platform.
To book the movie, customers can simply SMS VISHWA from their Registered Telephone Number (RTN) to 54325 and an Airtel DTH customer care representative will call back to complete the advance booking.

The Tamil movie can be booked for a charge of Rs 1,200 and the Telugu & Hindi version for Rs 500. Pre-bookings of the Tamil version will be available until January 8, 2013 for a charge of Rs 1,000.
